Cellar Bar: Fri 07 Dec, 8.30pm

Well well well…

It’s December already, and whether you’re excitedly wishing away the final few sleeps before Christmas, or staring in disbelief as the last remnants of the year vanish from the calendar, there’s one thing that we can all enjoy…

We have two Stand-Up Comedy Clubs this month!

And the line-up for the first instalment can now be announced…

You may have first seen Mike Gunn as an actor on Al Murray’s sitcom Time Gentleman Please. At that time in his stand-up career he was supporting the likes of Jo Brand and Alan Davies, but since then he’s blossomed into a dour comedy flower, his pessimistic outlook being his trademark. In fact, his ability to make merriment out of misery has earned him somewhat of a cult following on the comedy circuit.

“Mike Gunn will make you die laughing” The Guardian

“Fiendishly funny… as dry as a dead man’s bones” The List

Gordon Southern Stand-Up Comedy

Having performed sell-out gigs in more than 30 countries and with over a dozen Edinburgh Fringe shows to his name, award-winning comedian Gordon Southern is one of the most popular and experienced comedians on the circuit.

He’s our second Time Gentlemen Please alumnus of the night, and he’ll win plenty of Cellar Bar fans with his fast-paced audience interactions.

“We can all still look forward to the future… because Southern will be there making us laugh” Broadway Baby

“Spontaneous and hilarious” Fest Magazine

Chris Betts stand-up comedy

Finally, your MC for the evening is Canadian comedian Chris Betts.

Known for his lightning-fast improv, his Fringe show Chris Betts vs. The Audience involved him arguing for or against any point put forward by the audience, and earned him rave reviews, in spite of the fact that one show required him to advocate the killing of all cats…

“Amazingly funny!”
The List

“Outrageous and unpredictable fun that is a joy to watch and be a part of” Edinburgh Festivals Magazine

Tickets for Friday’s show are going fast, and Wednesday 12 December’s allocation is also not long for this world. Follow the links to buy yours now for Friday and Wednesday, or get ahead of the game for next season’s shows by browsing our full comedy programme here.
