Once a household name in comedy, twice a UK Singles Chart topper, David Baddiel is now a roaring success in the world of children’s literature.

His popular children’s book, ANiMALCOLM, centres around a boy, Malcolm, who just doesn’t get animals. In fact he hates them. But a school trip to a farm, seemingly mundane, takes him on a shape-shifting adventure, and he starts to see the world (quite literally) from the animals’ point of view. Slowly he begins to understand these beastly creatures, but how will he ever become human again?

This Easter, Story Pocket Theatre bring the wild world of ANiMALCOLM to life at the Maltings.

During its barnstorming run at Edinburgh Fringe, the show gained many admirers, among them David Baddiel himself.

Below he discusses what it has been like to witness his creation flourish on stage.

Story Pocket Theatre present David Baddiel’s ANiMALCOLM the Musical on Monday 15 April.
