The Riverside Café Gallery is delighted to be displaying artwork that has been produced by patients who attend the “Brush with Art” group at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice from 26 January – 9 February 2018

The group, who meet on a Monday afternoon has been running for nine years and staff and volunteers are continuously impressed, inspired and touched by the diversity and quality of the artwork produced.

With the freedom to explore their creativity whilst experimenting and expressing themselves through a range of mediums, patients can forget their worries and focus on their true selves.

Making art can be a route to self-expression and can generate communication between people and the Brush with Art Group is always full of conversation, thought, fun and laughter.

The work produced often provides a personal creation of lasting value to its creator, and to their family.

All of the artists are patients and family members who are under the care of Phyllis Tuckwell, a local charity which cares for patients, relatives and carers who are living with a terminal illness such as cancer.
