Oh the wonders of modern technology. Whilst we are momentarily unable to bring the laughs in our building, fortunately there’s some forward-thinking comics who’ve gone to digital to bring the comedy into your home.

podcast play

One minute no one listened to podcasts, now everyone has their list of favourites. And if you’re looking to giggle the way through self-isolation there’s plenty to enjoy. Comedy channel Dave and CALM, the campaign against living miserably, created the podcast Conversations Against Living Miserably featuring comedians talking how they live their lives without misery. It’s funnier than it sounds. The two self-isolation episodes star a wealth of great guests including recent Cellar Bar guest Stuart Goldsmith and our Live at the Maltings headliner John Robins. Check it out on usual podcast providers!

Other popular ones to check out: The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) and Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster.

working festival from home

The news has been awash recently with cancellations of all major festivals, but fear not as the brilliant minds at The Cosmic Shambles network have created The Stay at Home Festival. Alongside livestreaming their popular podcasts Book Shambles and Science Shambles they’ll be presenting mixed bill comedy nights. With acts confirmed to appear including Josie Long, Professor Brian Cox and former Maltings’ guests Jo Brand and Robin Ince, see some of the best comedians and tv personalities broadcast live to your home. Find out how to tune in here.

lockdown laughs 4 parents

If you have been an attendee of the Bring Your Own Baby Comedy club or if you have always wanted to attend, the creators behind the club are going online with their new format Lockdown Laughs 4 Parents. They will be live on their Youtube and Facebook page every Thursday at 8.30pm, with some of the best comics in the UK most of which are parents on lockdown too. If you need an outlet to laugh at the newfound frustrations of working from home and homeschooling, join Carly, Alyssa and guests this Thursday 09 April.

We are missing the laughter in our building, but we’ll keep sharing ways you can still enjoy comedy until our re-opening.
