Farnham Maltings has launched Wrap Up Farnham. This new initiative for the town gathers unwanted or unused coats from the people of Farnham and distributes them via charities and partners to those in need.
We are looking for warm, good quality coats, which are fit for purpose in the colder months. We will not be able to accept donations that don’t fit this criteria.
Wrap Up Farnham is part of the Wrap Up family, and was inspired by the London model which is run by HandsOn London.
How does it work?
From Wed 25 to Fri 27 November, Farnham Maltings will be partially opening its doors as a donation point for unwanted or unused coats. Volunteers will check the quality before placing them in quarantine. Then we will invite the charities we’ve partnered with from Tue 01 December to come and collect the coats to give to those they support. We are partnering up with charities who support a variety of people including families, the elderly, those sheltering from domestic abuse and those who are homeless.
If you are a charity who would like to receive coats to pass onto someone in need then please get in touch via the contact details at the bottom of this page.
Do you have a coat to donate?
We are looking for coats for all genders and sizes. Farnham Maltings will be open to take donations 10am-4pm Wed 25 to Fri 27 November.
Please note we can only take coats which:
- are warm and good quality (no light summer jackets)
- fully cleaned
- have all their buttons or a working zipper
- someone would want to wear
Volunteers will be checking the quality of the coats, and if they are not deemed in good enough condition then unfortunately, we will not be able to take them, and will ask you to take it to a charity shop or clothes bank.
The donation point at Farnham Maltings will be covid-secure. We will ask all donors to wear masks whilst in the building and to maintain social distancing. There will be a one-way system in operation with sanitising stations at a variety of points.
Wrap Up is designed to show the power a community can have when they come together to help those in need.
Gavin Stride, Director of Farnham Maltings, has acknowledged that “much of the work that we have been doing during these times has been to explore ways to make the most of our collective resources. Every time we have asked, the community of Farnham has responded with astonishing generosity. Our ambition is that, Wrap Up Farnham, will make a difference to anyone who needs a warm coat this winter”.
If you have questions about this project, which are not answered in the FAQs below, please email Erin on email@example.com and one of the Wrap Up team will get back to you.
