As part of Farnham Craft Month in October 2017, Meet Me at the Maltings embarked on a social crafting project to make our own English Paper Pieced Quilt. Over the month we welcomed over 80 participants to our foyer who all met new friends and many brought their own fabric contributions. Following on, many went on to complete their own quilts or cushion cover projects, or enroll in local courses to develop these new skills. For that reason, it even prompted the Maltings to buy a large communal table for the foyer for people to share all year round. The quilt was exhibited in October 2017 at the Farnham Festival of Crafts.
Initially set up in response to a nationwide ‘loneliness epidemic’, this has become a friendly, self-organising and dynamic group of people who look out for each other and welcome newcomers. In the past, Meet Me at the Maltings has been generously supported by Farnham Town Council, Johnson Wax Charitable Trust and Waverley Borough Council.
