Farnham Maltings Arts & Elders strand was established (under the name of Mindful Maltings) in early 2013. Since then, it has grown to collaborate with many local organisations and has received funding to carry out a series of programmes:
Currently we run:
Meet Me at the Maltings is a social creative group aiming to redress loneliness and isolation. We meet weekly to craft or write, chat and share. During Farnham Craft Month in October 2016, we established Come Quilt with Me, with Alice Butcher to create a mass social crafting project to make an English Paper Pieced Quilt; this will be continued in 2017 and exhibited at the Festival of Crafts.
We have a varied dementia awareness programme; we host regular Dementia Friends training, play a key role in the Farnham Dementia Action Alliance and hold Singing for the Mind weekly, which is facilitated by the musical Barbara Rayner for people living with dementia and their carers.
Other recent activities:
Our Care for Carers programme which has recently included Take Care drama improvisation workshops and hosting a production of Spillikin, a play about a futuristic robot carer. Other recent activities include Making Keepsake Boxes workshops at the Maltings and Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
