Farnham Maltings Arts & Elders strand was established (under the name of Mindful Maltings) in early 2013. Since then, it has grown to collaborate with many local organisations and has received funding to carry out a series of programmes:
Currently we run:
Meet Me at the Maltings is a social creative group aiming to redress loneliness and isolation. We meet weekly to craft or write, chat and share. October 2016 is Farnham Craft Month and to celebrate this we have set up stall in the foyer for Come Quilt with Me, with the wonderful Alice Butcher of www.aliceandginny.com to create a mass social crafting project, free of charge, to make an English Paper Pieced Quilt.
Mondays are dedicated to our Dementia Wellbeing programme. During the day we host Singing for the Mind, facilitated by fabulous Barbara Rayner, for people with dementia and their carers. One evening a month, we are developing a programme called Take Care, using drama improvisation techniques to support carers of people with dementia.
We’re also developing a Making Keepsake Boxes class which is available to take to care homes or social groups upon request.
