UK-Germany cultural exchange

international

visitor programme

welcome! willkommen!

A curated cohort of festival programmers and performing artists from Germany and the UK will be welcomed in Brighton between 20 - 24 May 2022 to exchange on the themes of how to meaningfully embed socially engaged practice into a place-based festival, remaining local whilst working internationally, working with communities and the civic role of the arts.

The exchange visit, organised by Farnham Maltings in partnership with the Goethe-Insitut and Brighton Festival, and supported by Arts Council England, aims to build dialogue and reciprocity between artists and programmers from the UK and Germany. Addressing the challenges in developing more sustainable, meaningful ways of working internationally, the programme aims to explore ideas that better connect artists to place and create the conditions for longer term exchange.

The visit will connect with Brighton Festival's community programme Our Place and Farnham Maltings' caravan assembly.
