Charlie graduated from Goldsmiths, 2004 with a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art. Following the degree she became artist in residence at Cranleigh Arts Centre and has since continued to exhibit widely throughout the country, recently including shows at Colart, London, Clyde and Co., Guildford Arts, The Canary Wharf Cabot Place Gallery, The Empire Gallery, Vyner Street, London and The Menier Gallery, London. With a wide range of experience in teaching and education Charlie is now pursuing her studies further with an MA in Fine Art and Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and works from her studio at The Old Fire Station.
Charlie’s practice revolves around painting, performance, photography and film. Through capturing traces of being, a sense of time and duration are suggested. The rhythmic beat of the camera shutter provides a structure for the composition of the performances. These performances inform the final aesthetic which tends to have a painterly quality, whether on screen or canvas.
