Farnham Dementia Awareness Week will include a varied programme of events for those living with dementia, their carers and anyone who wants to find out more about making our town more accessible.

Organised by the newly formed Farnham Dementia Action Alliance, this week has both activities for people living with dementia, including a Memory Walk and dementia friendly sport Cage Cricket, and opportunities for everyone to find out more about the disease, at Dementia Friends training and an information stand at Lion and Lamb. Most events are free and open to anyone.

The week will include the following activities (all are free of charge, unless stated otherwise):

Monday 15 May

10 am – 12 noon Sunflower Café*
The Gostrey Centre, GU9 7SB

1.30 pm – 3.00 pm Singing for the Mind*
Farnham Maltings, Bridge Square, Farnham GU9 7QR
(£3 per person, pre-booking recommended)

Tuesday 16 May
12 noon – 1.30 pm Cage Cricket
Farnham Leisure Centre, Dogflud Way, Farnham GU9 7UD

Thursday 18 May
10 am onwards Dementia Action Alliance – Business sign up day, across the town.

Friday 19 May
10 am – 11 am Dementia Friends Training

10 am – 2.30 pm
Alzheimers Society & Farnham Dementia Action Alliance public promotion,

Meeting point – The New Ashgate Gallery, Waggon Yard Car park, GU9 7PS (length of walk will be determined on the day)

Farnham Dementia Action Alliance is also inviting all businesses and organisations in Farnham to sign up to the Alliance.

Farnham Dementia Action Alliance aims to make our town friendlier and more accessible for everyone who is living with dementia and their carers. It does this by supporting and encouraging all organisations and business in Farnham to be dementia friendly; to increase awareness and access to services that support people living with dementia; and to ensure employers actively support their employees who are carers of people living with dementia.
