On Thursday 26 February, Farnham Maltings welcomed the award-winning journalist, writer and broadcaster, Jay Rayner.

Boasting a lot of hair and a fine collection of flowery shirts, Jay is the resident food expert on The One Show, a regular judge on Masterchef and chair of BBC Radio 4’s Kitchen Cabinet. For over 12 years now he has been the Observer newspaper’s restaurant critic and has reviewed well over 700 establishments.

Over the years, there is one thing that Jay has learned – people like reviews of bad restaurants. No, scratch that. They adore them, feast upon them like starving vultures that have spotted fly-blown carrion out in the bush.

In My Dining Hell, Jay examined our love affair with lousy reviews, read from accounts of some of the most excruciating nights out he’s ever had, looked at the worst reviews his own work has received and invited the audience to give his performance a review in real time via Twitter.

So, here’s what you thought…

If you missed your chance to add your thoughts during the show, please feel free to leave us a review below!
